How to dress if you want to hide your belly (without wearing shapewear)

If you want to know how to hide your stomach fat, this is the blogfor you. These are my suggestions for designs and cuts for camouflaging the belly aread. If you have suddenly gained weight around your belly area or if you are a new mother , then this video will be useful for you.

Today I am going to teach you how you can camouflage your belly fat when you are wearing tops, jeans and dresses. Bonus tips on what materials to avoid so keep on reading.

Section A)Tops/ shirts

  1. Tops ending below belly: If you wear a top ending at the largest part of the stomach, then attention will be drawn to that area. The smart thing is to buy tops which end below your abdomen. Even if you are wearing a tight jeans or trouser, this will cover your belly area.
  • Asymmetrical tops: The flowy design camouflages the fat part of the belly. The silhouette of the top will not expose the actual shape of your tummy.
  • Peplum top: Another flattering top is a peplum top which is fitted at the waist and then flows outward.  Example, this top. Sorry for the blurry picture

Section B: Jeans:

4. Mid-rise and high rise jeans or trousers will smooth over the belly fat versus low rise jeans which will gather on top of the fatter part of your aread. This way you can wear tight jeans without your bulge getting maximum attention. Smart isn’t it?

Section C: Dress

5.A-line dress: This is in my opinion, the best dress to hide a big belly. An aline dress is fitted around the  waist and then flares below . Your waist is the narrowest part of your body so by wearing an aline dress, you are diverting attention from the largest part of your stomach.

6.Empire dress: An empire dress has a fitted bodice which ends just below the bust and then skims over the rest of the body loosely. An example, would be this. Since it skims and does not hug it, it covers your stomach without emphasizing its shape.

7. Ruffles: Another way of covering your belly is wearing a ruffle dress. The frills distract the eye and creates an overall flowy effect. Here I am wearing a ruffle top which camouflages my stomach by not hugging it. B roll of ruffle dress

Section D: 3rd piece

8. Long outerwear: What I like to call is the third piece, is also called outerwear in many fashion websites. The 3rd piece  for should ideally end below the chubby part of your stomach. Therefore long shrugs, cardigans, gilets, waistcoats are a great way to make your paunch look smaller. A waterfall collar is more flattering as it lends a v shape to your chest area which points the eye to the waist, the narrow part of your body.

Now bonus tip: Jersey material, satin material clearly defines the lines of your body So avoid them if you are conscious. Clothing made from good quality cotton and linen, polyester will not hug to your body.

These are my top outfit  suggestions for hiding your stomach. I am 100% sure that these will give you the look you want without you having to wear baggy loose fitted clothes for hiding your stomach.

Let me know in the comments below which one would you try right away. I would suggest looking at your existing closet and see which one of the tips above would you implement easily. I would love to hear which tip you tried and also would recommend subscribing to my blog for more such valuable content.
